Uplifting Poem: It’s Okay
It’s okay to live outside
Of what the world calls normality.
It’s okay to grow
And create your own reality.
It’s okay to be different.
It’s okay if they won’t listen.
It’s okay if they don’t pay attention,
And it’s okay to be yourself
Without permission.
If you’re anything short of yourself,
Then you’re not giving yourself
The opportunity to live
The life that you were given.
It’s okay if you don’t fit in.
When an object pierces our skin,
We all bleed the same from within.
It’s okay if you’re shorter.
It’s okay if you’re taller.
It’s okay if you’re bigger,
And it’s okay if you’re smaller.
It’s okay if your skin is lighter or darker.
It’s okay if your orientation
Is not the same as theirs.
It’s okay if you don’t walk like they do.
It’s okay if you don’t talk like they do.
The same person who created them
Is the same person who created you too.
No matter how you look.
No matter what you like.
And no matter what you do,
Someone will have something to say,
But I promise you,
It’s okay. It’s okay. It’s okay.
